What could be cooler than wearing a wedding ring handmade by the love of your life?
Jena, a local jewelry artist, brought us into her workspace and guided us through the process of creating each other’s rings. We started with a little bag of platinum beads, melted them down with a torch, and spent the rest of the day transforming an oblong blob into a lifelong symbol and reminder of our love for each other.
We used an ingot, a mill, a saw, files, sandpaper, a hammer, a torch, big goggles and facemasks. We melted, flattened, pounded, rounded, measured, corrected mistakes and drank champagne. The tools and techniques we used are the same ones jewelers have been using for hundreds of years.
It’s amazing to know that the ring I will wear for the rest of my life is covered from the inside out with Molly’s love and fingerprints!
You can see a whole album of pictures of the process on our flickr! page.
I'm so tickled about our new garden bed! A couple months ago Laurie started killing the grass (newspaper with rocks on top actually works). We turned the grass over this weekend and surrounded the bed with free rocks that Laurie found on craigslist. Jen (beautifully pictured above) and Adele came by tonight with a truck filled with rich and stinky compost as well as lots of dahlia bulbs. Now we just need to water this puppy.
What are our wedding colors you ask? Keeping in theme with the rustic fall wedding, our colors for the event are: burnt reds, bright oranges and chocolate browns (with accents of green and yellow). Somthing like the below photos - we will not have a wedding party, hand-held bouquets or a wedding cake - but you get the idea...

The invitations are ready to go out! YIPPEE!
No, they are not Save the Date (STD tee-hee) cards. Yes, we know that our wedding is 9 months away. Yes, we just can't wait any longer to share all of this with you, soooooooo enjoy the music and the website!
Scout, Laurie and Stuart sure look perky as they cut, fold and stuff all those invites! =)
So that's my mom who came in from Chicago and Laurie's sister Debbie who came all the way from West Seattle :-). This weekend, these two patiently advised Laurie and me on what outfits we look hottest in. For those of you wondering....Laurie will likely be wearing pants, and I will be likely in a dress. There will be colors and our outfits will be playful - just like the whole event.
If you're wondering what the dress code is for the wedding, be sure to check out the 'Wedding Details' link!
Our friend Aubree put this together for us - isn't it just awesome? Aubree is the talented designer that did Laurie's business logo and website: See Spot Run.
Thanks so much Aubree - we just love it!
I am having too much fun putting together this site.... what do you think of the MP3 playing - doesn't it just rock? I found it on my new favorite blog, Offbeat Bride... Someone had their wedding party come in to this song - 'Space Walk' by Lemon Jelly - how rad is that? Enjoy!
You can turn off the music in lower left corner (on the border/frame) of the this site at any time!
